For Cúla 4’s Le do thaobh we set out to bring still photography to life.

Collaborating with Core, we created a playful world where kids could step right into the action alongside some of Cúla 4’s best loved animated characters. These weren’t stills made to be simply swiped past. We wanted to take the viewer inside them.

Photographed by Kevin Goss-Ross, each scene was captured in individual layers before being rebuilt using a multiplane animation technique. By separating our characters, foregrounds and backgrounds, we could move a virtual camera through the photography, giving each still a real sense of depth and movement.

The result brings photography and animation together, creating a world where Cúla 4’s audience can feel right there alongside the characters they love.
